Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to interface with Supply Chain Leadership (Distribution and Transportation) for Retail Business Services, LLC which is an independent Ahold Delhaize Company and supports the local brands of Ahold USA and Delhaize America, including: Food Lion, Giant Landover, Giant Carlisle, Hannaford, Martin’s, Peapod and Stop & Shop with the mission of reducing and mitigating injury, illness and regulatory risk. The position is responsible and accountable for executing and maintaining the design, oversight and delivery of safety and environmental systems and improvements that positively impact and improve loss exposures in the supply chain operations in a supermarket chain operating along the East Coast. Partner with Local and Corporate Safety Specialists and Senior Brand Leadership to ensure customer satisfaction & brand risk reduction through education and verification of designated safety and environmental standards and procedures as they concern locations including distribution and transportation facilities. Assess, determine and direct continuous improvements and ensure a proactive safety operational plan through training, coaching, auditing and mentoring activities.Position provides subject matter expertise in environmental health and safety risks.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities: • Partner with and Collaborate with Senior Supply Chain Leadership to determine safety programs and initiatives with the focus on injury reduction and regulatory compliance for Supply Chain facilities. Both short term and long term action plans related to injury prevention and compliance programs (OSHA and EPA). • Attend Supply Chain Leadership and Facility Meetings to discuss safety KPIs, safety action plans, initiatives, etc.• Influence supply chain leadership related to safety programs. • Help determine safety related budgets for programs. • Develop safety related programs, training material and communication material for Supply Chain facilities. Assist in driving and developing consistent programs related to safety and environmental. • Partner with Safety Specialists that support Distribution and Transportation facilities to develop programs to support safety and environmental initiatives. This would include taking an active role in assisting the safety specialists within their assigned facilities as needed. • Act as the liaison with regulatory agencies. Develop contacts and relations with officials responsible for environmental, health & safety regulation enforcement (OSHA, EPA, etc). Actively participate and assume leadership roles in local regulatory and trade associations educate and be advocate for company safety standard practices/policies/programs.• Conduct on-going problem-solving based on an objective assessment of the facts or circumstances while using collaborative work methods to achieve consensus. Advise leadership and business partners regarding safety risks within the brand.• Integrate essential aspects of injury prevention and compliance into the execution of company strategy so associates know their role and responsibilities and are held accountable for their behaviors.• Partner with all business areas to identify the best equipment, process, workflow, work environment and facility decisions which impact associate and customer safety.• Create and utilize performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of operating systems and environmental health and safety programs.• Maintain effective communication with and support to operations that will ensure agreement on priorities and desired results.• Ensure all associates are adequately prepared and trained to safely perform their jobs and ensure related operating systems are in place.
